The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has updated its list of private universities eligible for funding through the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), coinciding with the opening of the 2026 placement portal.

A total of 31 private universities are now eligible for HELB loans, though they do not qualify for government sponsorship.
KUCCPS, the placement body, is overseeing the process, which runs from April 7 to May 6.
42 public universities and the Open University of Kenya remain eligible for both government scholarships and HELB loans.
