The High Court in Nairobi has cleared the sale of a majority stake in East African Breweries PLC (EABL) to Japan’s Asahi Group Holdings, dismissing a bid to halt the transaction.

• The deal is valued at approximately Sh296.5 billion.
• Key entities involved are EABL, Asahi Group Holdings, and Diageo, with logistics firm Bia Tosha being the party that sought to block the sale.
• The court, presided over by Justice Bahati Mwamuye, lifted interim orders, allowing Asahi to proceed with acquiring a majority stake and consolidating beer and spirits operations across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
