Kenya's government has intensified a nationwide crackdown on illicit alcohol, destroying 2.8 million litres in a national security drive prompted by a presidential directive declaring substance abuse an emergency.

• Over 2.8 million litres of illegal brews and spirits were seized and destroyed.
• The Ministry of Interior and National Administration, in coordination with the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse, led the multi-agency operations.
• The Rift Valley, Nyanza, and Western regions accounted for the majority of seizures, with 973 suspects arrested.
