The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists’ Union (KMPDU) has expressed serious concerns regarding security, staffing, and infrastructure at Ishiara Level IV Hospital in Embu County.

• The union highlighted that healthcare workers were endangered during a community protest on April 14 due to a lack of adequate security provided by the County Government of Embu.
• KMPDU defended the hospital's Medical Superintendent, Dr Anthony Nduva, against allegations of negligence, stating he assumed leadership under difficult circumstances.
• The hospital is reportedly operating with a critical shortage of staff, with only seven doctors, leading to the closure of several essential clinics.
