The Ministry of Health has suspended the tariff-locking mechanism in the Social Health Authority (SHA) system following widespread reports of civil servants being denied services or forced to pay out-of-pocket.

• Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced the immediate withdrawal of tariff locking on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
• All SHA-contracted facilities are prohibited from charging civil servants fees for medication or services.
• A joint rapid response desk will be established to address detentions and process refunds for unauthorized charges.
