A cargo ship, the Sward, sailing from Suez to Mombasa was hijacked by suspected pirates on Monday, April 27, near the coast of Somalia.

• The vessel, flying the St Kitts and Nevis flag, was boarded by armed men and is reportedly being steered toward the Somali coastline.
• The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed the hijack.
• The ship carried a crew of 15, including two Indian nationals and 13 Syrians.
