Kenya has been selected to host the Africa CDC Eastern Africa Regional Centre in Nairobi, a move set to bolster regional health security and preparedness.

• The Centre will serve 14 Member States, enhancing coordination for public health emergencies.
• Key entities involved include the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and the Kenyan Ministry of Health, with CS Aden Duale presiding over the agreement.
• The signing occurred during the inauguration of the High-Level African Health Leadership Ministerial Committee (AHLMC), co-chaired by Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya, on the sidelines of the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2026.
