President William Ruto explained that the Labour Day celebrations were held at Chavakali Boys High School in Vihiga County due to delays in the construction of the Kidundu Stadium, a project now cleared to proceed. The delay was caused by land compensation disputes.

• The government spent Sh90 million to compensate and relocate residents from the Kidundu Stadium project site.
• The project is a flagship Kenya Kwanza initiative, spearheaded by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
• The 10,000-seater Kidundu Stadium is expected to be completed and serve as a major sports hub when construction begins under the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
