Private security guards are demanding the disbandment of the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA), alleging it is ineffective, politically motivated, and fails to enforce regulations protecting their welfare.

• Guards are incensed by a nominal 12 per cent wage increment, stating it is meaningless without the enforcement of a gazetted minimum wage of Sh30,000.
• Representatives from the Kenya National Private Security Workers Union (KNPSWU) and the Protective Guards Association of Kenya (PROGAK) are leading the criticism.
• They accuse the PSRA of acting as a shield for employers who fail to adhere to wage laws and of being a conduit for political funding rather than serving the interests of over one million guards.
