- NCDs account for over 50 per cent of hospital admissions and approximately 43 per cent of deaths nationwide.
- Key individuals include Dr. Catherine Karikezi, Executive Director of the Noncommunicable Diseases Alliance of Kenya, and Dr. Gathon Gadesha from the Ministry of Health’s Division of NCDs.
- The Mwanga Access Programme, piloted in Meru County, showed success in early detection and integration of NCD care into primary healthcare, improving follow-up rates and treatment control for hypertension and diabetes.
