The African Union – InterAfrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) is urging African nations to enhance their livestock data systems, emphasizing the crucial role of quality data in effective disease surveillance and policy-making.

• The call to action comes after the ARIS Advanced End Users Training Workshop in Nairobi, attended by experts from Eastern, Southern, and West African countries.
• Dr. Huyam Salih, Director of AU-IBAR, stressed that data is only valuable if it is accurate, validated, and actively used for decision-making to protect livelihoods.
• The workshop, supported by the European Union, the Food and Agriculture Organization, and the World Organisation for Animal Health, focused on improving the use of the Animal Resources Information System (ARIS) and promoting regional collaboration.
