Members of the National Assembly are challenging the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over its funding request and effectiveness in curbing hate speech.

• The NCIC requested Sh1.5 billion but was allocated only Sh711 million.
• The National Administration and Internal Security Committee, led by Chairperson Gabriel Tongoyo and Vice Chairperson Dido Raso, expressed doubts about the NCIC's ability to handle divisive remarks ahead of the General Election.
• The MPs cited a lack of consequences for individuals making abusive statements, which they believe could fuel ethnic tension.
