The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has forecast near-normal rainfall for much of Kenya between June and September, offering some relief for farmers despite a region-wide warning of dry and hot conditions.

Southern and northern parts of Kenya are projected to receive near-normal rainfall, while western and coastal regions face a higher chance of below-normal showers.
IGAD issued a climate outlook for the Greater Horn of Africa, predicting below-normal rains for countries like South Sudan, Uganda, and Ethiopia.
This forecast contrasts with recent above-normal rains in Kenya that caused significant infrastructure damage and over 180 reported deaths since early March.
