Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) are criticizing the Kenyan Executive for the delayed implementation of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025, one year after President William Ruto signed it into law.

• The Act, designed to promote inclusion, accessibility, and economic empowerment for PWDs, remains largely unimplemented due to a lack of regulations and political prioritization.
• Nominated Senator Crystal Asige, the law's sponsor, stated that Parliament has fulfilled its role and is now urging the Executive and the public to ensure the Act is operationalized.
• Leaders highlighted ongoing stigma and discrimination within communities, schools, and religious institutions, alongside infrastructure and policy gaps, as major barriers to the effective implementation of the law.
