The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has opened a 30-day public review period for the proposed construction of two significant manufacturing plants in Kitui and Nyeri counties.

• The projects include a massive lime processing plant in Kitui and a cement manufacturing plant in Nyeri, both described as multi-billion shilling ventures.
• NEMA is seeking public input on potential environmental and social impacts, such as noise, from both facilities.
• The public can submit comments and access Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) reports at NEMA headquarters, the Ministry of Environment offices, or respective county environment offices until May 22.
