The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has strongly condemned political actors making premature allegations of rigging the 2027 presidential election, warning such statements undermine public confidence in Kenya’s democratic process.

• The IEBC described the claims as “reckless, baseless and unacceptable,” aiming to instill fear and erode trust in the nation's electoral system.
• The IEBC Chairperson, Erastus Ethekon, reaffirmed the Commission's sole mandate to conduct elections as per Article 88 of the Constitution.
• The electoral body is engaging relevant authorities for appropriate action against those making inflammatory statements and urged leaders to focus on election preparations and respecting institutional independence.
