National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) is reintroducing traffic fines for minor offences starting June 1, 2026, this time with a new framework that avoids automatic court appearances for offenders. This revised system aims to reduce congestion in traffic courts while upholding road safety principles.

• Offenders will receive a Police Notification of Traffic Offence and can choose to pay the fine or dispute it in court.
• The framework was developed in collaboration with the National Police Service, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the Judiciary.
• Motorists will have the right to access evidence (photos/videos) related to the alleged offence, and personal data will be handled according to the Constitution and the Data Protection Act.
