Faced with dwindling donor funding, Bungoma County is stepping up its efforts to sustain interventions against Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and achieve elimination targets. The county government has increased budgetary allocations to ensure critical programs remain uninterrupted.

Bungoma County allocated Ksh15M to NTD programmes in the 2026/2027 financial year.
County Director of Health and Sanitation Dr. Caleb Watta is leading the initiative to integrate NTD interventions into the mainstream healthcare system.
Interventions such as mass drug administration and WASH initiatives have reduced Schistosomiasis prevalence from 7% to zero cases in some areas.
