A contingent of Kenyan students has achieved a historic milestone by clinching the Grand Prize at the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–2026 global finals held in Shenzhen, China.

This marks the first Grand Prize win for Kenya in the competition's 10-year history.
The winning team comprised students from Tharaka University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Mt Kenya University, and Machakos University.
The competition saw a record-breaking 210,000 participants globally, culminating in 131 elite teams from over 40 countries at the finals.
