The Employment and Labour Relations Court has halted the duties of three newly appointed members to the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco) board. The court's decision comes pending the hearing and determination of a petition challenging their appointments.

• The court suspended all board resolutions made in the presence of appointees Mercylinnete Rotich, Janerose Gatwiri, and Nick Ochola.
• The appointments, made by Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi on May 29, 2026, allegedly bypassed an ongoing recruitment process under the Government-Owned Enterprises Act, 2025.
• Petitioners argue the appointments unlawfully pre-empted the statutory recruitment process, undermining transparency and the mandate of the Government-Owned Enterprises Boards Search and Selection Panel.
