Kenyan Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has reassured salaried workers that the proposed review of the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax structure is still on track, despite its omission from the recently passed Finance Bill 2026.

• The government is actively working on measures to implement President William Ruto's pledge to ease the tax burden on low-income earners.
• The PAYE review was not included in the Finance Bill 2026 as it was submitted to Parliament before the President's announcement on May 27.
• President Ruto had previously directed the National Treasury to develop proposals to remove PAYE deductions for workers earning up to Ksh30,000 monthly.
