An unemployed journalism graduate, Waihiga Mutero, successfully relaunched her home-based granola business, Gratifying Granola, with just one initial order after facing difficulties finding employment in her field for over two years.

• The business, initially funded by a single Sh5,000 order, now supplies doctors, expatriates, and health-conscious families across Nairobi three times a week.
• Mutero, a 33-year-old journalism graduate from USIU-Africa, previously ran a similar operation with her mother between 2017 and 2020, which was impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
• Gratifying Granola offers four flavours with prices ranging from Sh800 to Sh900 for a 500-gram pack, and has achieved Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) approval, a significant milestone for future retail expansion.
