Effective July 1, Kenya will permanently ban vehicles deemed irreparable from its roads, introducing new motor vehicle inspection regulations by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
- Vehicles classified as Category A ("Actual Loss") will be permanently de-registered and prohibited from returning to public roads.
- The NTSA, under new rules gazetted by Roads Cabinet Secretary, Davis Chirchir, aims to prevent severely damaged vehicles from being resold, thereby improving road safety.
- Mandatory annual inspections will also be expanded to privately owned vehicles older than four years.
