Hundreds of traders in Machakos are facing catastrophic losses after a massive fire engulfed the Mitumba Market on Saturday night, reducing numerous businesses to ashes.

• Traders like Mr Nzioki Kioko reported losses of stock worth up to Sh200,000 and even Sh2 million.
• The Machakos Sub-County Fire Officer, Francis Nzioki, confirmed firefighters battled the blaze throughout the night.
