The Kenyan government has finalized preparations for a public hearing on the proposed Kithoka Airstrip project in Meru. The hearing will allow residents to voice their opinions on the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the project.

The public participation forum is scheduled for Wednesday.
The planning committee was led by Meru County Forest Conservator Wellington Ndaka, with consultations held involving key stakeholders including Meru County Commissioner George O. Omolo and representatives from the Council of Elders, local leaders, and Community Forest Associations (CFAs).
A community sensitization exercise was conducted at the project site to inform residents about the airstrip's objectives and potential impacts.
