Kakamega County Assembly's Committee on Finance and Economic Planning has directed the county's water service providers to seek a reduction in water tariffs to ease the cost of living for residents.

• The committee wants to lower the current tariff, where households pay Sh91 for zero to six cubic metres of water.
• Key individuals involved include Committee Chairperson Bonface Osanga, Peninah Mukabana (CECM for Water), and CEOs Charles Tunga (KACWASCO) and James Atwa (KARUWASCO).
• Besides cost, the committee also questioned water providers on strategies to increase access to piped water, particularly in rural areas.
