Nakuru's Afraha Stadium is undergoing a significant upgrade to meet international standards as Kenya co-hosts the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The project aims to transform the venue into a modern sports facility capable of hosting both football and athletics competitions.
- The stadium's seating capacity will be expanded from 8,200 to between 13,000 and 15,000 in the current phase, with a long-term goal of 20,000.
- The redevelopment is being led by the Kenya Defence Forces.
- New features will include a FIFA-standard pitch, an all-weather Tartan running track, upgraded floodlighting, and a new VIP pavilion, building on an earlier Sh650 million renovation.
