The historic Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi, once a prominent venue for political rallies including the birth of the Saba Saba movement, has been transformed into a modern community and sports centre.

• The transformation, 90% complete, includes a soccer pitch, multi-purpose pitches, a resource centre, boxing ring, changing rooms, multipurpose halls, a library, digital museum, IT hub, and indoor gym.
• The project was initiated by a promise from President William Ruto.
• Residents expressed gratitude for the facility, with some suggesting a monument to Raila Odinga and historical figures be erected to commemorate its political past.
