The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has successfully secured a triple murder conviction against Major Peter Mwaura Mugure, a senior military officer, for the killings of his two children and their mother in October 2019.

• The conviction is for three counts of murder, with sentencing scheduled for July 14, 2026.
• The accused, Major Peter Mwaura Mugure, formerly stationed at Laikipia Air Base, was found guilty by the High Court in Nyeri.
• Evidence presented demonstrated premeditation, including witness testimony that the accused visited the burial site and arranged for a shallow grave to be dug three days prior to the murders.
