President William Ruto has ordered county governments to waive business permit fees for two years for beneficiaries of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Programme, aiming to reduce the cost of doing business for young entrepreneurs.

• Over Ksh3.05 billion was disbursed to more than 122,000 young entrepreneurs across 47 counties under the NYOTA Programme.
• Key figures involved include President William Ruto and county governments, coordinated by the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) and the Ministry of Co-operatives and MSMEs Development.
• The waiver aims to allow young enterprises time to grow before incurring compliance costs, as highlighted during the launch of the second tranche of the NYOTA Start-Up Capital Programme on Friday at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nairobi.
