President William Ruto's political allies are intensifying efforts to unseat Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya in the upcoming 2027 elections.

• Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi publicly declared they will "do everything possible to prevent" Natembeya from recapturing his seat and will field a single candidate against him.
• Other key figures involved include National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, who has endorsed Susan Nakhumicha, and potential rivals Dr Chris Wamalwa and Maurice Bisau.
• Natembeya is seen by Ruto's allies as an obstacle to securing votes in the Western region for the President's re-election bid.
