The Tana River County Government has launched a new Hot Water Treatment (HWT) Plant at the Galole Integrated Fruit Processing Plant to enhance the quality and export potential of local mangoes.

• The HWT plant will eliminate pests and fungal diseases, significantly improving mango shelf life and meeting stringent international phytosanitary standards.
• Key figures involved include Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana and the Coast Development Authority (CDA), operating the fruit factory.
• The initiative aims to reduce post-harvest losses, eliminate exploitative middlemen, and boost the incomes of smallholder farmers by securing direct access to markets, including a partnership with the Italian CAAR Group for EU market entry.
