Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) and Safaricom have been held liable for a Sh4.4 million SIM-swap fraud loss suffered by a customer, Mercy Wairimu Kariuki, with a court affirming their negligence.

• Safaricom was found 60 percent liable and DTB 40 percent liable.
• The High Court dismissed appeals from both DTB and Safaricom, upholding a lower court's ruling.
• DTB was ordered to pay Kariuki Sh1,788,601, plus damages, costs, and interest.
