Kenya's Interior Ministry is confident that international accreditation of its Forensic Evidence Management Unit (FEMU) will significantly strengthen criminal prosecutions and lead to more convictions.

• The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) awarded FEMU its international accreditation, marking Kenya as having Africa's first such unit.
• Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen stated this accreditation ensures evidence is collected, preserved, and presented according to global standards, leading to "stronger prosecutions and more convictions."
• Alongside the accreditation, Kenya launched a Multi-Biometric Identification System, expanding its fingerprint database capacity fivefold and reducing police clearance certificate processing time from up to 14 days to 24 hours.
