The Utawala Last-Mile Water Connectivity Project is set to significantly improve access to clean water for over 40,000 residents in the Utawala-Githunguri area, with household connections expected to begin by August.

• The project aims to provide reliable water to approximately 191 estate courts, ending years of reliance on saline borehole water and irregular supply.
• Muthwani Residents Association Chairperson Denis Oyunge highlighted the project as a milestone towards achieving Kenya's Sustainable Development Goal Six.
• Residents have struggled with water scarcity for years, with existing piped water available only about two days a week, and the use of saline water has damaged infrastructure.
