The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) is investigating former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretaries Aden Duale and Geoffrey Ruku, along with seven others, for alleged hate speech and ethnic incitement.

• The investigations are a proactive measure by the NCIC and the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya (IRCK) to safeguard national cohesion ahead of the 2027 General Election.
• NCIC Chairman Kepha Omae stated that no individual, regardless of their office or standing, is above the law and assured that investigations will be conducted independently.
• Both organizations expressed concern over increasing political intolerance and inflammatory rhetoric, warning against collective blame of communities for individual actions.
