The opposition movement Linda Mwananchi is reportedly negotiating with former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa, offering her a senior leadership position to bolster their presence in the Coast region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

• Siaya Governor James Orengo stated that Ms Jumwa would be given a principal position if she joins the movement.
• Ms Jumwa recently resigned from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) citing undemocratic practices and is consulting with her supporters before announcing her next political move, with intentions to run for the Kilifi gubernatorial seat in 2027.
• Her potential return to the opposition would be a significant political shift in the Coast, where President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza administration has been strengthening its influence.
