Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has defended its decision to fell mature acacia trees, which led to the displacement and death of nesting marabou storks, citing safety concerns.

• The hospital stated the trees, some over 30 years old, had become decayed and posed a risk due to falling branches.
• The affected trees were home to dozens of marabou storks.
• KNH claims falling branches had previously damaged infrastructure, vehicles, and killed some birds, and that a technical assessment confirmed the safety risk.
