Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and his allies are pushing to have the name Linda Mwananchi registered as a political party for his 2027 presidential bid, following its rejection by the Registrar of Political Parties.

• The Registrar of Political Parties, John Cox Lorionokou, has agreed to review the decision to reject the name Linda Mwananchi.
• The name was initially rejected for closely resembling existing slogans and for raising public interest concerns, violating Section 8 of the Political Parties Act.
• A closed-door meeting on Tuesday involving Senator Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and other leaders aimed to persuade the registrar to reconsider.
