A 19-year-old boda boda rider, Erick Otieno, died from severe internal injuries after allegedly being beaten while in police custody at Muthaiga Police Station.

• Erick Otieno suffered massive internal bleeding due to severe abdominal injuries, with doctors finding over two litres of blood inside his abdomen.
• The family is seeking answers from investigators and the police regarding the extent of the injuries sustained during his nearly 36 hours in custody.
• Erick was reportedly arrested on Saturday afternoon and released on cash bail late Sunday night, vomiting blood shortly after and dying en route to the hospital.
