Lawyer Alphonce Collins Odoyo Osewe was arrested at the Milimani Law Courts and charged with defrauding two gold dealers of over Sh71.8 million through a scam that occurred in May 2023.

• Allegedly defrauded gold dealers Bernard Shiaundu Aete and Adeyeye Enitan Ogwunusi of approximately $260,400 and Sh26,100,000 respectively, promising to deliver 400kg of gold to each.
• The lawyer failed to appear in court for nearly a year, resulting in a warrant of arrest.
• He claims he was sick and seeking treatment in India, a claim the prosecution opposed as he sought release on bond.
