Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga has been barred from his office by the Labour Court following a petition challenging the legality of his continued tenure.

• An interim order by Justice Nzioki wa Makau prevents Mainga from exercising the powers of Managing Director and CEO.
• The case was filed by Joan Machuma Nyongesa, who questions the validity of Mainga's renewed term which reportedly began after his initial three-year term expired on February 2, 2023.
• The court has suspended any decisions or arrangements that purport to extend Mainga's tenure beyond his last lawful term.
