Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has officially launched the People's Party of Kenya, marking a significant political shift from his previous alignment with President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration. This move follows nearly a year of consultations with prominent opposition figures including former Deputy President Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Martha Karua. Ndindi Nyoro has also proposed a 50% cut to National Social Security Fund (NSSF) contributions from 2028 to bolster healthcare financing. Kenya Kwanza leaders have defended President Ruto against perceived disrespect from opposition figures, stating that any challenges should be reserved for the ballot. The opposition leaders have celebrated Nyoro's political shift as a significant development ahead of the 2027 general election.
