The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has issued a report highlighting governance weaknesses and potential corruption loopholes in Kenya's co-operative sector, urging for immediate reforms.

The report, presented to the State Department for Co-operatives on Tuesday, August 18, identified gaps in governance and internal controls.
Key organizations reviewed include the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA), New Kenya Co-operative Creameries Limited (New KCC), and the New Kenya Planters Co-operative Union (New KPCU).
The findings coincide with concerns over a new delegate-based governance system in large co-operative societies, which some members fear will limit their participation in decision-making.
