A 65-year-old woman, Evelyn Mukiri Mbaabu, was tragically hacked to death in Chabuene village, Meru County, on August 7, after offering water and food to a stranger.

• The victim was attacked with a machete while preparing supper in her kitchen.
• The suspect fled after also attacking Mukiri's teenage grandson, who had gone to fetch water.
• Mukiri was known for her generosity, community service, and conservation work, including her role as an honorary warden for the Kenya Wildlife Service, nicknamed "Mama Ndovu".
