Members of Parliament are demanding a crackdown on rogue auctioneers who allegedly use thugs and excessive force to seize property, exposing Kenyans to intimidation and financial losses.

• The National Assembly Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education questioned the Auctioneers Licensing Board over its regulatory and enforcement record, scrutinizing reports from 2018/19 to 2024/25.
• Committee chairperson, Luanda MP Dick Maungu, emphasized the need to distinguish legitimate auctioneers from those operating illegally.
• Auctioneers Licensing Board CEO Festus Terer stated they are collaborating with the Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja to ensure auctioneers use lawful security mechanisms rather than private gangs.
