The Kenyan government has disbursed Ksh 2.6 billion to 13,000 families evicted from Mau Forest six years ago, marking the official closure of their displacement. The payments, delivered via M-Pesa, provide each family with Ksh 200,000 to resettle.

• This initiative aims to allow affected families to start anew after leaving the crucial water tower.
