The Kenyan Ministry of Health has escalated its response to a dengue fever outbreak in Garissa and Wajir counties, with a cumulative total of 1,678 cases reported.

• As of August 26, Garissa recorded 1,583 cases, while Wajir reported 95 laboratory-confirmed cases.
• The Ministry of Health, led by Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni, is maintaining heightened surveillance and activating emergency response centers.
• Key measures include strengthening case management, infection prevention, community awareness on mosquito breeding site elimination, and advising residents on symptom recognition and appropriate treatment, cautioning against aspirin and ibuprofen.
