The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) is effectively reducing heavy commercial vehicle overloading and protecting road infrastructure through the deployment of four virtual weighbridges.

• Since becoming operational, these virtual weighbridges have processed approximately 2.5 million vehicles, with an impressive 80% compliance rate.
• KeRRA Director of Road Asset Management Dr Engineer Peter Gichohi highlighted the significant impact of technology in enforcing axle-load regulations.
• The virtual weighbridges, strategically located in Kilifi, Kajiado, Nakuru, and Bungoma counties, have also created a deterrent effect, leading some truckers to self-report for overloading violations.
