Following a disruptive two-day strike by aviation workers at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), the Kenya Flower Council (KFC) is advocating for an immediate National Aviation Contingency Protocol for Perishable Exports.

• Over 1,000 tonnes of cargo worth millions of shillings were affected by the backlog.
• The call comes from KFC CEO Clement Tulezi, representing fresh produce exporters.
• The proposed protocol includes measures like priority cargo handling, cold-chain continuity, and backlog management to protect Kenya's reputation as a major exporter.
